Herd Watching & A Home Improvement

We are enjoying watching our calves, that were weaned last weekend, explore the cornfield and the oats field.  Andrew said, it’s like living by a big fish bowl, watching the calves is fun.  They definitely have their routines and different calves like to hang with certain calves.

Last night at sunset. They are heading for water.

He made us a coat rack!
Ambrose picked out the hooks at Lowe’s yesterday!
We will appreciate this handy home improvement, this weather encourages alot of layers.

Pretty Snowflakes?❄️

A friend sent me the link of Patti Page’s song “Pretty Snowflakes” in October.  We’re a little more prepared for winter, but would still appreciate more Autumn weather to complete what needs to be done.  I did, however, play the song again today. 🌨️

Hauled Hay, Weaned Calves, & Combined Herds

A Very busy, but good day with nice weather to boot!

Wrapped up one of the fields yesterday.
Setting up the panel corral.
Riding to gather the herd.
Here comes the herd.
Sorting mama cows from calves.
Making sure the panels stay put.
Watching DuckTales & keeping an eye on the herd.
First load dropped off.
Lunch time before loading up the last load.
Stockman picnic.
Gathering the small herd to combine all the cattle.
Waiting for the herd.
I gave Simon a rag weed to help him guard a gate, one of the truckers gave him a real whip, he wrote a thank you tonight to the kind trucker… I guess my ragweed idea wasn’t impressive.
Getting ready to turn the cows in to the pasture.
Out our dining room window at supper time. Deer season opens next week…so I’ve been told… I wonder if the deer will feel comfortable in the open then?

November!  What a glorious month!!!  It starts out celebrating our Heavenly Friends & Reminds Us To Pray For Those Who have gone before us.  If you are not familiar with the St. Gertrude Prayer, I highly recommend it, especially if you have a loved one who has passed to Eternal Life.  I look forward to attending Mass tonight!

In honor of All Saints Day we went about our home and gathered our Saint & Jesus statues all in to one place!
Appreciating the “attitude of gratitude” that is encouraged during November!
Enjoying the social aspect of trick or treating!
We were able to watch the Little Bluestems perform at the local nursing

home on October 30th, before we attended Faith Formation.

Round 1 of Weaning & Cold Cattle Move

It says it’s 37° but that cold blustery wind sure made the cattle drive a long one! All’s well that ends well!

Hay Hauling, Cattle Moving, & Well Read Mom

We’ve been meeting ourselves coming and going, I suppose it should be expected during an Autumn like this one. Crunch time while the weather permits!

The herd has been gathered.
Cattle in the new fall pasture.
Windtower crew is working 24/7 to finish before winter…two windtowers overlook Haymarsh.
Using a crane to put on the blades.
Garden potatoes…yum!
Grandma Mary’s sister and some of her family came for a visit the night of Well Read Mom book group.

It was warm today, 64 F at one point when I looked, so we made the most of it and stayed outside until dark.
Made a visit to the Good Shepherd statue, the weather was beautiful tonight.

12 Years

12 years ago today I began an incredible journey with a best friend, I pray as the marriage blessing goes, we are blessed to know our “Children’s Children.” God willing even our Children’s, Children, Children!  An interesting sidenote…my Godparents Ted & Ella were also married on October 20th.  As well as my Confirmation Sponsor and her husband, Anna & Jay!  I said a prayer today for All of You who encouraged, supported, and Blessed us on our Wedding Day!  So Many good folks to thank!  Some have passed on to the Other Side of this Life, Others are Still Here Encouraging Us To Sainthood.

God has Blessed us very much these last twelve years & He’s given us the strength to get through the challenging times!

I was explaining to Andrew that I would need the tractor for the 50 to 100 lb pumpkins and here he even got some cornstalks for me by 7:45 this morning!
Simon is in school, I’m a little sad he’s not in this picture since he’s the one who planted the pumpkins.

What does a married couple do at 9:30 pm on a Monday night?  Make salsa, of course.

Specialized onion glasses: highly recommended if you don’t like tears from chopping onions.
Bell peppers.
Saying good night a bit before 8 pm.
