Adventures in Haymarsh

Page 103 of 152

O Come, O Come, Emmanuel 🎢

Andrew’s began a hobby of collecting anything postmarked out of the Haymarsh Post Office (closed sometime in the 1920’s, I believe). There’s a cute story behind this postcard (his most recent purchase), he’ll have to tell you sometime.
Andrew built and put a new door on a building. He built the door on Friday after supper and put it in place on Saturday. He’s a hard-working man.

More St. Nicholas Day treatsπŸŽ…
Beautiful Sunday weather to be on one’s roof.
I enjoy bringing out the seasonal books. 🌟
They enjoy helping Dad.
Such a good worker.πŸ’™
Probably the best Dad in the world!
Thanks for the Christmas set you gave us on our 1st Anniversary, Steve. It’s wonderful being able to bring out a festive set.
Happy 2nd week of Advent!
O come, O come, Emmanuel
And ransom captive Israel
That mourns in lonely exile here
Until the Son of God appear
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel

People Look East!

Happy 1st Sunday of Advent!Β  Prepare ye the Way of the Lord!

The Advent Wreath is now on the table!
The first purple candle will be lit tonight! The crescendo of lights building up to Christmas is exhilarating 😊
He’s asked me multiple times to make peanut butter blossoms, so we made some today.
Note how neatly he placed them in the bowl. Future engineer?
Baked and ready to be placed on Saint Nicholas day platters!
Covering the strawberries with straw.
We moved the herd home to their winter pasture yesterday, 44 degrees and sunny, Thanks Don, Tracy, and Andy for the help!
Guarding a gate.
Helping with the cattle drive.
In his spare time, which is rare, he is cleaning up this dilapidated building.
Spritz and Gingersnaps for St. Nicholas Day!
Our Thanksgiving decor will change during Advent.
We were going to have popcorn, jellybeans and toast for Thanksgiving (our travel plans as I’m sure many of yours changed) but Andrew scrounged about and ended up providing a feast. Much to be thankful for!
A blessed week of Advent to All!

People, look east. The time is near
Of the crowning of the year.
Make your house fair as you are able,
Trim the hearth and set the table.
People, look east and sing today:
Love, the Guest is on the way.

Happy Thanksgiving πŸ¦ƒ

Why can’t you take a turkey to church? They use FOWL language.
Why was the Thanksgiving soup so expensive? It had 24 carrots.
What happened when the turkey got into a fight? He got the stuffing knocked out of him!
What do you get when you cross a turkey with a banjo? A turkey that can pluck itself!
What did the turkey say to the man who tried to shoot it? Liberty, Equality and Bad aim for all.
Who doesn’t eat on Thanksgiving? A turkey because it is always stuffed.
Why did the Pilgrims want to sail to America in the spring? Because April showers bring Mayflowers!
What did baby corn say to mama corn? Where’s popcorn?

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
Gobble, Gobble!

Parade of Lights

A cold but very still and beautiful evening.

Made Italian wedding soup for lunch…used spinach because I didn’t have Kale…so very tasty.

I think she ate at least 1/2 a cup of soup.πŸ˜‹

It was so gorgeous here on Wednesday morning.
She loves climbing into this chair.
She is zipping around and climbing stairs, it’s a challenge to keep up with her! I should look at it as a good weight loss plan!
We made treats.
WRM book club is such a blessing for meπŸ’
The only way we are able to visit Grandma. She shares the same name as our Baby Girl, but hasn’t been able to hold her. Thanking God Wednesday was warm enough to make a visit. We just lossed a neighbor who was in his early 60’s from what the family thinks was a massive heart attack. He went out to do chores and never came in for lunch. Take no day for granted! None of us know the day, time or hour when God will call us home.
I sure hope we have someone to pray for our souls to make it to Heaven when our journey here has ended, here we are praying for pour souls in purgatory on Wednesday.

Idealist

Thank goodness for older brothers!  I think I tend toward being an idealist. I like to think things should be done in the correct order in the proper way.   This older brother of mine knows when to put humor into my life to make me more balanced.

Me, big brother, little brother on our good old trusty pony many moons ago.
Happy birthday big brother πŸŽ‚
Heading out to chores on Saturday.
Making mozzerella cheese. Milkcow Matilda gives 6 quarts a day. Wondering if there’s anything this man can’t do.
Working hard!
Andrew used the mozzarella cheese he made on this homemade pizza.
“We need hot chocolate!” They helped fix the barn all day Saturday.
Apple fritter muffins.
Must be the yearlings bedtime, heading back to the barn area.
The barn that was worked on.
A Piano and Harmonica duet.
The shed that is being built.

Flag Goes By

By:Β  Henry Holcomb Bennett

Hats off!

Along the street there comes

A blare of bugles, a ruffle of drums,

A flash of color beneath the sky:

Hats off!

The flag is passing by!

Β

Blue and crimson and white it shines,

Over the steel-tipped, ordered lines.

Hats off!

The colors before us fly;

But more than the flag is passing by.

Β

Sea-fights and land-fights, grim and great,

Fought to make and to save the State:

Weary marches and sinking ships;

Cheers of victory on dying lips;

Β

Days of plenty and years of peace;

March of a strong land’s swift increase;

Equal justice, right and law,

Stately honor and reverend awe;

Β

Sign of a nation, great and strong

To ward her people from foreign wrong:

Pride and glory and honor,β€”all

Live in the colors to stand or fall.

Β

Hats off!

Along the street there comes

A blare of bugles, a ruffle of drums;

And loyal hearts are beating high:

Hats off!

The flag is passing by!

Smokin’ πŸ₯“

Andrew is smoking his bacon!

She may have partied too hard last night πŸ’•
Feeding time! Such a nice group of heifers.
Andrew made the tastiest bacon!
Waiting patiently for some bacon to fry.
Preparing to wrap the bacon.
Life is good in God’s country.
Bacon, Bacon, Bacon! Mmmmmm….mmmmm…..mmmmm!
& that’s a wrap! Best bacon this side of the Mississippi!
