Killing Frost

We were at 27 degrees on Monday morning and looks to be approximately 35 degrees for Tuesday morning.  The pumpkins, garden produce, and the flowers that did not get covered did not make it.  Andrew covered as much as he could…these early frosts are always a bit disheartening.

We just read this book, “We are the Gardners” by: Joanna Gaines and Kids
What a timely story! Thank you Sean!
Some of the flowers close to the house made it, some did not…seems so early to have gotten so cold.
These pumpkins didn’t get covered.
Frozen eggplants. 😟
Green tomatoes on frost damaged vines.☚ī¸
We”ll see if the cantaloupe survive.😞
We brought in three gourds, we’ll have to see how the gourds, squash, and pumpkins do.🤞
Another page of the book… Just about sums it up!
We think Mary agrees 💗

5 🎂

“Now you’re five
There’s much to do!
Dance and jive
Tie a shoe
Most of all
Just be you!”

Lucky little fella got two parties, one with Daddy’s family…
& one with Mommy’s side.
He really likes “Glory” the betta fish 🐟 he’s been asking for all summer! Happy birthday!

Happy September!đŸŒģ & Potatoes

Pommes de Terre.  One of the few things I remember from my college French course.  Pommes de terre translates to “apples of the ground.”  Ignatius and I had a lot of fun digging up a half a row this morning.  We lost our entire potato crop last year on October 4th it snowed, and was 4 or so above for most of the week…so I’m a little gunshy, that’s why I’ve begun digging this early.

Such a good little worker, he put every potato gathered this morning in the buckets.
A “big” one!
After school activity… potato digging.
Today’s potatoes.
Eggplants for supper.
We’ve got some beautiful, big watermelons coming!
Winter squash.
2 pretty Cinderella pumpkins…one for Grandma and one for Grandpa.
I really appreciate fall flowers! So colorful!!!đŸĩī¸
The impatiens did not look so good when I planted them, now they’ve been in their “Glory” these last couple of weeks!
