Adventures in Haymarsh

Garden

We received .90 last night.  This moisture is sure making the garden perk up.  The heat stress is leaving the plants.

The cabbage and buttercup squash enjoy this moisture and heat.
Tiny eggplants πŸ† are coming.
Volunteer pansies… If any flower or garden plant is coming voluntarily, I am letting it grow this year!
Picked some snap peas yesterday.
A few cherry tomatoes.
The gophers ate seven of my eight watermelon and cantaloupe plants. They also are relentless on the little impatient rose.

Relief 🌧️

After a week of 90 degree weather and dry, hot wind, we received a much needed .75 of rain last night.Β  Everything is breathing a sigh of relief…all the plants in the garden even though it’s being watered were withering.

A lilly bloomed! It’s having a tough time with the hot, dry weather we’ve had, but the color is pretty.
Colorful snapdragons…. they need to be weeded in a terrible way, but I enjoy the pop of color.
Andrew reseeded 20 acres yesterday.
When it’s too muddy for children to work outside, have baseball practice and too cold for swimming lessons, dance!
Another misty day! The children are having to use their imaginations to be creative since they can’t go outside. He said he’s opening an ice cream shop and these are his flavors.

Happy 4th of July!πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

An interesting picture sent from my older brother.Β  Happy birthday U.S.A.!πŸŽ‡

Checking on the herds in their new pastures, this group is so happy and content.
This herd is also happy and content. Praise Him!
Time to cool off.
No fireworks this year, water balloon fight will have to do.

Hot πŸ”₯

We moved out pairs today,Β  did we pick a cooker!Β  God sent Maria and Uncle Peter to make this day survivable for us!Β  When we were finished at 5:30 p.m. I looked at my phone and it said 102Β°

A new corner and gate.
We began the day at 6:30 am to beat the heat!
Cousins πŸ’
A good day for the pool. Thank you Maria for the excellent care of the children today.

Coyote Hunters

Enough is Enough.  We had our third loss from predators on Friday, 3 calves eaten since June 6th.  Local ranchers suggested I call Game & Fish.  I met with a nice fellow on Saturday morning.  This morning they are out with an airplane, I’ve heard 12 shots.  I hope they are able to get the predators killing our calves.  The only losses (besides one premature twin) we’ve had this year was to predators.

The sharp shooters just reported, “We shot 3 down by marsh 1 east of your house 1 north east.” Hopefully that will stop the calves from being eaten.

Swimming Lessons

The little towns out here have only outdoor options… it’s supposed to be in the 90s this week…so outdoors should be fine.

The first strawberry πŸ“ from our garden for the year!
While a few of us were at swimming lessons, big brother hit a grand slam!⚾

Rainy Sunday 🌧️

After Mass, there was a goodbye meal for Father Zwack, then a heavy short rain happened.

Husband playing piano on a rainy Sunday πŸ’™
Marie sent them a craft to work on, a rainy day was a good day for it!
Daddy & daughter πŸ’ž
A few of the dianthus made it! They were transplanted from Grandma Jen’s flower garden, so happy some made it!
On Saturday, Grandpa and Dad worked on setting a corner so that we can move out pairs.
Headed to the Line Camp, we hadn’t been there this summer, yet. Such tasty treats and excellent sandwiches!
Sweet brother.πŸ’™

Cherries πŸ’

Life is just a bowl of cherries 🎢…it rained about .65 today.Β  The fruit truck came to town and we picked up some cherries.

Delivering mineral and salt to the heifers earlier this week.
All 3 needed to open the gate πŸ™‚
A very pleasant game against Center.
Looks like Andrew’s on the school board again.
