Art

Simon’s first grade teacher has her degree in art as well as elementary education. I think she does such a wonderful job with these kids!

This was brought home last week. It’s good to see the beauty of this world, there’s so much of it, if we take the time to see it!
Brought home last month. The four seasons display using a single tree is unique.
A fall scene.
6 1/2 weeks!
Morning nap time!
Zzzzzz… satisfied, comfortable, warm, and not a care in the world. Sometimes it’s good to be a Baby!

Planning the Garden

Some lettuce seed packets.
Writing down desired plants.
Everyone gets to offer an opinion since everyone will be helping prepare, plant, weed, and harvest the garden.
O Happy Day!
Pretty evening.
I thought the golden light was so pretty, those two little lights you see on top are the reflection of our house lights, my phone caused.

A tribute- “Rocky” …for those horse folks out there.

Growing up, my family had a horse who became like a family member.ย  Andrew got to know him a little and our children have heard of him.ย  In those days, we didn’t have our front wheel assist John Deere loader tractor so Rocky was counted on every day to help feed the livestock.ย  My Dad just swung in with this old article he came upon…so I thought I’d share some history.

The article my Dad dropped off.
Rocky is pictured above with my cousin Adam. The bottom horse was my Dad’s saddle/ranch horse.
Andrew took this picture back in 2006 I believe.
Another picture taken by Andrew, we used to feed the heifers and cows with something called a pick-and-roll. We would pick up a bale, drive it to where it needed to be, and roll it out.
Andrew on Rocky, Monica on Shorty after raking hay in the field, July 2006.
May 5, 2009, is the date on this picture. Rocky with a “student” horse, named Sunny.
Spring planting days at Taylor, no date on the picture, but it was the later years of Shorty’s life, his last year on the farm was 2016.

Fog = Frost

I think there’s a saying that goes something like, “three months, three weeks or three days from a heavy fog there will be a storm.”ย  But there’s something sort of magical about it.

Going to collect noon eggs.
Helping to feed the chickens.
Enjoying our noon outing.
Praying and thinking of those families and friends that are in Washington DC today! We have a niece there. Hats off to the President who is the first to speak at a March for Life and give a voice to the voiceless!
“God, author of all life,
bless, we pray, this unborn child;
give constant protection
and grant a healthy birth
that is the sign of our rebirth one day
into the eternal rejoicing of heavenโ€ฆ”
~ excerpt from the Prayer of Blessing

Well Read Moms & Mary

Blessed to call these ladies friends.

For a short while there was two little extra members tonight ๐Ÿ˜Š
Mary sure was a good little listener, not much input from her at this point however…that will likely change after a decade or so๐Ÿ˜

Balmy weather!

After the last week and a half or so, it feels like we are experiencing a heatwave!ย  It is 33 degrees, not a breeze, and the sun is trying to peek through the clouds!ย ย

The chickens are loving this warm weather.
Silver Laced Wyandotte hen.
They love their new mittens!
Black star hens.
Working on holding her head up!
