Weaning Heifers

Today we are weaning heifers, steers will be weaned in a couple of weeks. Got our first dusting of snow this morning.

We appreciate Don, Tracy, Chelsea, Priscilla, and Tiffany for helping out!

This little turnip eating Miss decided to stand by herself yesterday. One would have thought the brothers won the lottery by the way they cheered for her.

Our oldest is now reading chapter books, the little brothers love listening to him.

A mug of hot chocolate is well deserved after working in this cold.

This fence was built in 1983, so today Grandpa, Grandma, Mary, and I had some “stitch in time” work to do before weaning.

With below freezing temperatures, we went around and turned off all of the hydrants we don’t use in the winter so they could back drain and not freeze and break.

Watching us work from a warm pick up. It was a sleety, windy, and blustery afternoon.

Cleaning Corrals

Grandpa’s been cleaning our weaning corrals. Uncle Peter came over with his skidsteer today to do the “fine-tuning” work.

Peter cleaned out the barn entirely of the manure that Grandpa couldn’t reach with the bigger loader tractor. Here he’s cleaning the bottom of the board fence which will make it much easier for us to do repairs.

This Grandma must have done something right, she has quite the bouquet of Grandchildren 💛💙♥️

Thanks for all of your help, this lady washes the bedding and makes the bed before she goes! Does most of the dishes, brings a ton of food, and helps in meal preparation. Overachiever!!! But much appreciated 💕.

I wondered if little girl would get any attention growing up in God’s country where there’s more cattle than people, appears she’s being doted upon a little bit.💖

Today, we sauced the tomatoes. I’ll be honest, the garden does not make us money, and the amount of time and work that’s put into preparing, planting, weeding, harvesting, sorting, just adds to the work load. But, the food it produces is so delicious!
