Idealist

Thank goodness for older brothers!  I think I tend toward being an idealist. I like to think things should be done in the correct order in the proper way.   This older brother of mine knows when to put humor into my life to make me more balanced.

Me, big brother, little brother on our good old trusty pony many moons ago.
Happy birthday big brother 🎂
Heading out to chores on Saturday.
Making mozzerella cheese. Milkcow Matilda gives 6 quarts a day. Wondering if there’s anything this man can’t do.
Working hard!
Andrew used the mozzarella cheese he made on this homemade pizza.
“We need hot chocolate!” They helped fix the barn all day Saturday.
Apple fritter muffins.
Must be the yearlings bedtime, heading back to the barn area.
The barn that was worked on.
A Piano and Harmonica duet.
The shed that is being built.

Happy Veteran’s Day🇺🇲

Flag Goes By

By:  Henry Holcomb Bennett

Hats off!

Along the street there comes

A blare of bugles, a ruffle of drums,

A flash of color beneath the sky:

Hats off!

The flag is passing by!

Blue and crimson and white it shines,

Over the steel-tipped, ordered lines.

Hats off!

The colors before us fly;

But more than the flag is passing by.

Sea-fights and land-fights, grim and great,

Fought to make and to save the State:

Weary marches and sinking ships;

Cheers of victory on dying lips;

Days of plenty and years of peace;

March of a strong land’s swift increase;

Equal justice, right and law,

Stately honor and reverend awe;

Sign of a nation, great and strong

To ward her people from foreign wrong:

Pride and glory and honor,—all

Live in the colors to stand or fall.

Hats off!

Along the street there comes

A blare of bugles, a ruffle of drums;

And loyal hearts are beating high:

Hats off!

The flag is passing by!

Smokin’ 🥓

Andrew is smoking his bacon!

She may have partied too hard last night 💕
Feeding time! Such a nice group of heifers.
Andrew made the tastiest bacon!
Waiting patiently for some bacon to fry.
Preparing to wrap the bacon.
Life is good in God’s country.
Bacon, Bacon, Bacon! Mmmmmm….mmmmm…..mmmmm!
& that’s a wrap! Best bacon this side of the Mississippi!

God’s blessed me with the most amazing friends and family!♥️
On our way to Swimming on Sunday! To celebrate my aging self.
Then treated to a tasty meal. Yum!
My age in hexadecimal…this is what happens when one is married to an engineer.

Weaning Steers

Today we weaned steers with the help of Don, Tracy, Glenn, Chelsea, and Andy.  It was a blessed and safe weaning.

It was a foggy, damp, and chilly morning.
Yesterday, Grandpa and I had to doctor a sick heifer.
For a change of pace I made some no-bake white chocolate, marshmallow, peanut butter treats for the helpers.
& Seven Layer Bars. They are one of my favorites.
Andrew is taking part of the afternoon and flattening out the extra scoria in our yard.

Bacon 🥓

He is curing his own bacon. Local butchers are booked out until next summer. Desperate times call for desperate measures.😄
Thank goodness for beauticians! Once in a blue moon I get away to get my haircut and I sure appreciate it!
This little lady decided to start walking last week… It is such a fun journey to see her reach milestones. Too many parents don’t get the great blessing of watching their child learn to walk and yet, God has given Andrew and I four chances to see our babies walk. Praise Him!
