Friends

“The most beautiful discovery true friends make is that they can grow separately without growing apart.”
– Elisabeth Foley

Fun to have company!
We enjoyed seeing this Fargo Friend & her growing family! Thanks for allowing us to show you Haymarsh, Rachel! Photo courtesy of Simon.
On the farming side of life… Grandpa made a timely purchase of a baler. The bearing went out on our old one… Andrew hooked up Grandpa’s newer (1999 Gehl) baler. It’s good to have a backup when one is trying to make hay while the sun shines!

Rodeo Time!

A fun family day, enjoyed by all!  It was good to see Simon’s hard work training his pony pay off at the rodeo today.  We really enjoyed the Grant County Rodeo in Carson, ND.

Ready to Ride!

Homemade cherry jelly, so tasty!

Proud Aunt

I love Sundays!  No work!  Go to Mass thanking God for another week of life and find recreation!  I’m a very proud Aunt of these nieces and nephews!  So happy that they have developed a skill they’ll be able to enjoy their entire lives.  Others enjoy their music too! They play in Minnesota next week and Montana in September.  Their ages range 8-13 years old.

Little Blue Stems!
Last Day of the County Fair.

Mower breakdown & Fair Concessions

The mower broke down…but Andrew was able to fix it.  Simon and I had a warm afternoon working concessions for 3 hours.  The hay was cutting so well that it was hard for Andrew to quit haying to help out but he said he enjoyed the time with his children and attending the Fair.

Fixing the mower.
Watching Daddy fix the sickle knife.
Picnic in the field.

My mother, who made excellent Vietnamese food, made the best field lunches… Until I learn how she made those meals (man do I miss her cooking!) …my husband and sons have to settle for bologna and cheese sandwiches and warmed up cheeseburgers.

Simon worked hard manning the water and soda station, while I made over a hundred and twenty rootbeer floats.
Continuing to cut hay.

Prairie Bouquet

My six year old made me a bouquet (I’m sure he was assisted).

A prairie bouquet.
1 oats field cut.
