Warm Up

We’ve had fairly pleasant weather all week.Β  It has been very busy, juggling and getting everything done well, but we’re succeeding!

We turned off the Christmas lights this week.
We’ve had a couple parts break on two of our wells, thank goodness Andrew has an engineer mind.
Off to gather eggs.
Little Miss Independent, now that she’s two, she dresses herself, she’s totally fine wearing Daddy’s hat and Big brother’s gloves even though they don’t fit! Ain’t no one going to tell her otherwise. I like the confidence & independence that she is learning, Andrew and I will have to learn to make sure she knows however that every day in her life she needs to be working for a Higher Power… Confidence & Independence are excellent as long as they’re harnessed to God’s Will.
Mr. Smiley πŸ˜„
Off to feed the cows!
My Aunt Mary Kay passed away last night, please pray for the repose of her soul.
I love, love it when I see Andrew and any of our children working together on the farm. I know it provides an opportunity for them to bond, the children to ask advice, questions about life, etc. Here they are feeding a bale of hay to the heifers.

Bone chilling πŸ₯Ά

Keeping the cattle happy, the chicken’s laying eggs, and all of the outdoor beings as cozy as possible proves to be a challenge in these frigid temperatures.

The children and I went to check the water for the cattle on Monday, it was frozen over, Andrew has figured out how to get it thawed out and going again. The tank heater kept tripping the power source.
Church Christmas program.
My uncle signed our family up to receive a catalog for these courses…I signed up for a course.
Thank you so much for the kind words in the Christmas cards, it’s rewarding to hear that many of you enjoy keeping up on the blog, and find it entertaining, sometimes even educational… I promised the children I would be on my smartphone less this year which means I probably won’t be updating it as frequently as I had been, but I do think they’ll be fine with a “weeklyish” update.
Happy Baptism of Our Lord ❀️

2022

“You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.”- C.S. Lewis

We hosted a party for those who have helped us in the last year… some were unable to attend due to illnesses or other plans but the ones who were able to make it helped make it a pleasant evening.
Our meatball roller.
He helped Dad make a delicious side dish involving pumpkin and rice.
Apple, cranberry, ginger ale punch.
Beef short ribs.
Apron on, ready to cook.
Master chef.

O Christmas TreeπŸŽ„

Thank you Grandpa and Grandma Jacobson for your home raised Christmas πŸŽ„.
We really appreciate the extra help he is able to give.
Grandpa and Grandma got into more decorating than they expected! Their good attitudes are so appreciated. It’s nice that they’re able to spread Christmas cheer even though these are not their parishes.

Christmas program, Piano Recital, Homeward bound cattle drive, decorating church, and Parade of Lights

If we fit any more into this weekend, we might have to add another day to it. Grandpa and Grandma Jacobson blessed us with their company.

Bars and cookie platter for the piano recital, Grandpa Bob cut the bars for me .
Only 17 below this morning! The cattle drive went well, having full sunshine and a lack of wind made it bearable. Grandpa and Grandma Jacobson helped us make the drive home. Andrew had it the worst in the cold, then Tracy and her mentee, Autumn.
& they’re in!

Warm weather

Today, according to the forecast, may be the last pleasant day for a while.Β  It might be sometime before the little ones & I can venture out and do the noon chores.

Grandpa’s foal named “Blue.” Simon’s almost 2 year old, Penny.
Some trouble making calves caused Andrew to have a very short lunch, here he and our 3 year old had to go and chase them back in to the electric fence.
Andrew turned on more exterior lights yesterday.
More baking.

Name’s Day!

Her birthday is so close to the Christ child’s birthday that we wanted to give her a special day in addition to her birthday, so we picked a Marian day and held a little party for her.

Her brothers and sister gave her a music box.πŸ’–
Thank you Godmother Catherine for the beautiful lamp!
