Proud Aunt

I love Sundays!  No work!  Go to Mass thanking God for another week of life and find recreation!  I’m a very proud Aunt of these nieces and nephews!  So happy that they have developed a skill they’ll be able to enjoy their entire lives.  Others enjoy their music too! They play in Minnesota next week and Montana in September.  Their ages range 8-13 years old.

Little Blue Stems!
Last Day of the County Fair.

Mower breakdown & Fair Concessions

The mower broke down…but Andrew was able to fix it.  Simon and I had a warm afternoon working concessions for 3 hours.  The hay was cutting so well that it was hard for Andrew to quit haying to help out but he said he enjoyed the time with his children and attending the Fair.

Fixing the mower.
Watching Daddy fix the sickle knife.
Picnic in the field.

My mother, who made excellent Vietnamese food, made the best field lunches… Until I learn how she made those meals (man do I miss her cooking!) …my husband and sons have to settle for bologna and cheese sandwiches and warmed up cheeseburgers.

Simon worked hard manning the water and soda station, while I made over a hundred and twenty rootbeer floats.
Continuing to cut hay.

My six year old made me a bouquet (I’m sure he was assisted).

A prairie bouquet.

Helping prepare supper!

Helping shell peas to add to the lettuce & spinach from the garden.
Anytime I can supplement supper with something from the garden…it makes me happy, General Tso’s Chicken, rice and sauteed peas which were from the garden. Frozen strawberries in lemonade and shelled peas (which taste like candy)…and the kids like to eat them raw. Add a little spinach and lettuce and we’ll call it supper!
