Grandparents!

We have Grandpa and Grandma Jacobson here for a visit!

We had a short cattle move Friday and picked potatoes yesterday.

Blue potatoes.
Andrew’s pet cow, Ambrosia.
Peeling and slicing apples that we bought in Montevideo and they so kindly delivered them.
🍎
He so proudly gave the surviving Cinderella pumpkin to Grandma and Grandpa πŸ’›

Baling Straw 🌾

Andrew woke before daylight to rake wheat straw.

Andrew snapped this picture and asked me if I’d ever seen a “fogbow?” We’re wondering if that’s even a word, but beautiful picture.
Good ol’ John Deere 820…most of it’s siblings are in tractor treks, this one still has to work.
Pinic with Papa. We took lunch out to Daddy and ate with him.πŸ₯ͺ
Gathering all of the tarps. Such a gorgeous morning, the fog lifted and it was just beautiful working weather. Definitely one of those mornings to tuck away and recall later.
Harvesting the green tomatoes.
I love it when they work as a team.❀️
Enjoys working on puzzles that he got for his birthday.
Yesterday was chilly, had to locate the winter hats.

Killing Frost

We were at 27 degrees on Monday morning and looks to be approximately 35 degrees for Tuesday morning.Β  The pumpkins, garden produce, and the flowers that did not get covered did not make it.Β  Andrew covered as much as he could…these early frosts are always a bit disheartening.Β  Β

We just read this book, “We are the Gardners” by: Joanna Gaines and Kids
What a timely story! Thank you Sean!
Some of the flowers close to the house made it, some did not…seems so early to have gotten so cold.
These pumpkins didn’t get covered.
Frozen eggplants. 😟
Green tomatoes on frost damaged vines.☹️
We”ll see if the cantaloupe survive.😞
We brought in three gourds, we’ll have to see how the gourds, squash, and pumpkins do.🀞
Another page of the book… Just about sums it up!
We think Mary agrees πŸ’—

5 πŸŽ‚

“Now you’re five
There’s much to do!
Dance and jive
Tie a shoe
Most of all
Just be you!”

Lucky little fella got two parties, one with Daddy’s family…
& one with Mommy’s side.
He really likes “Glory” the betta fish 🐟 he’s been asking for all summer! Happy birthday!

Happy September!🌻 & Potatoes

Pommes de Terre.  One of the few things I remember from my college French course.  Pommes de terre translates to “apples of the ground.”  Ignatius and I had a lot of fun digging up a half a row this morning.  We lost our entire potato crop last year on October 4th it snowed, and was 4 or so above for most of the week…so I’m a little gunshy, that’s why I’ve begun digging this early.

Such a good little worker, he put every potato gathered this morning in the buckets.
A “big” one!
After school activity… potato digging.
Today’s potatoes.
Eggplants for supper.
We’ve got some beautiful, big watermelons coming!
Winter squash.
2 pretty Cinderella pumpkins…one for Grandma and one for Grandpa.
I really appreciate fall flowers! So colorful!!!🏡️
The impatiens did not look so good when I planted them, now they’ve been in their “Glory” these last couple of weeks!

CompanyπŸ’—

With my Dad being the oldest of 15 children, there’s never a shortage of wonderful cousins that come and visit.Β  Today, we were blessed to have Karen and her crew come bringing us tons of treats and a beautiful bouquet.Β  They made the trip to see Grandma and I feel so blessed that Karen felt comfortable enough to swing in for a visit.

Karen, Caleb, Molly, Colby, and Savannah surrounding the Good Shepherd.
Karen, the sweetheart, brought a bouquet for our home.
Grandpa and the boys went to his friend’s farm and picked plums when I hosted my WRM group, Andrew processed some today.
Beautiful and tasty plum jelly.πŸ˜‹
We had an injured cow that we hoped would improve but isn’t and a bull that was recently injured and our local veterinarian recommended that we sell. So we with the help of Don rounded them up tonight.
Andrew checking the herd, they seem unsettled in their new pasture, so we will need to check them frequently.
