Happy to have Grandma & Grandpa Jacobson here for the next couple of days!

“Lucy’s feast is on 13 December, in Advent. Her feast once coincided with the Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year, before calendar reforms, so her feast day has become a festival of light.[7]
This is particularly seen in Scandinavian countries, with their long dark winters. There, a young girl dressed in a white dress and a red sash (as the symbol of martyrdom) carries palms and wears a crown or wreath of candles on her head. In Denmark, Norway and Sweden, girls dressed as Lucy carry rolls and cookies in procession as songs are sung. It is said that to vividly celebrate St. Lucy’s Day will help one live the long winter days with enough light.” Source: Wikipedia
So we thought tonight would be a good night to turn on the outside lights.

We put up the tree and hope to add more “Christmas” to our home each week of Advent. The tree puts an aroma in our home that is wonderful! Once we have it all decorated, we plan to keep it up until the Baptism of Our Lord, January 12, 2020.

We’ll see if we get treats in our slippers tonight!

We just had to go out and play after school.

May you all be blessed with a Joyful Advent as you prepare and hopefully joyfully anticipate the birth of the Christ Child!🕯️

We hauled the last bale to a hayfence in 2019 today. A successful feeling indeed! Andrew & the Boys held down the fort while Grandpa, Grandma & I finished hauling hay for the year. A personal best of 131 bales hauled today!

We had a chilly cattle drive this morning. I’m happy we were able to get it completed before rain, sleet & snow hit! Now back to getting those bales hauled!

Just a couple hundred more bales to go & I love seeing the Brothers being responsible boys doing the night chores!
